What we do
We work with the local Wyndham community to raise vital funds for Wyndham’s only public hospital.
Since 1993, the foundation has been providing significant financial support to Werribee Mercy Hospital, that now serves the greater Wyndham region.
It takes a broad community approach to help raise the funds required to expand our public hospital to meet community demand and we welcome volunteers, business supporters, donors and families interested in our giving in memory program or to make a bequest.
We work with you to ensure our hospital is the best it can be.
Intensive Care Unit opens August 2018
The new intensive care unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital has opened and will provide the people of Wyndham more theatres and beds. Hospital waiting times for emergency care and elective surgery will be reduced and patients will get the treatment they need sooner.
This significant expansion includes 8 intensive care beds, 6 additional operating theatres, a central sterile department as well as 56 inpatient beds and a multi-story car-park.
The expansion has been funded through $85 million from the state government, $6 million from Mercy Health and $2 million from the Mercy Health Foundation and Werribee Hospital Foundation.
Wyndham community can expect quality health outcomes from the hospital as it continues to meet the needs of this rapidly growing community.
Werribee Hospital Foundation will continue working closely with Werribee Mercy Hospital and the local community to build a public health service that meets community expectations and growing capacity.
Campaign to purchase a Rotem August 2018
Time is critical when dealing with situations involving large blood loss, such as with obstetrics and surgical interventions. Having an advanced diagnostic machine that analyses the coagulation of blood, not only saves time by helping to guide clinical decisions for blood transfusions, it most importantly, saves lives.
A Rotem blood analyser machine will soon be purchased by Werribee Mercy Hospital following a successful community fundraiser led by Werribee Hospital Foundation in partnership with community members, groups and businesses.
The target has now been reached and it is all thanks to the local Wyndham community getting behind their public hospital.
Major donors include the Werribee Hospital Foundation, Werribee District Football Club, Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing and Goddings.
The Werribee District Football Club supported this fundraiser by hosting The Mercy Cup on Saturday 4 August where Werribee Districts claimed the trophy with a 16.10 (106) – 8.11 (59) win against Wyndham Vale F.C. The funds raised were boosted by Werribee Districts Football player, Gavin Donnan, who helped champion an online fundraising campaign.
Werribee Mercy perioperative educator and Director of Werribee Hospital Foundation, Nicole Whiting, organised a sold out Ladies Luncheon at the The Mercy Cup that included a massive fundraising raffle.
