Time is critical when dealing with situations involving large blood loss, such as with obstetrics and surgical interventions. Having an advanced diagnostic machine that analyses the coagulation of blood, not only saves time by helping to guide clinical decisions for blood transfusions, it most importantly, saves lives.
A Rotem blood analyser machine will soon be purchased by Werribee Mercy Hospital following a successful community fundraiser led by Werribee Hospital Foundation in partnership with community members, groups and businesses.
The target has now been reached and it is all thanks to the local Wyndham community getting behind their public hospital.
Major donors include the Werribee Hospital Foundation, Werribee District Football Club, Rotary Club of Hoppers Crossing and Goddings.
The Werribee District Football Club supported this fundraiser by hosting The Mercy Cup on Saturday 4 August where Werribee Districts claimed the trophy with a 16.10 (106) – 8.11 (59) win against Wyndham Vale F.C. The funds raised were boosted by Werribee Districts Football player, Gavin Donnan, who helped champion an online fundraising campaign.
Werribee Mercy perioperative educator and Director of Werribee Hospital Foundation, Nicole Whiting, organised a sold out Ladies Luncheon at the The Mercy Cup that included a massive fundraising raffle.
